A growing church at St Peter’s
‘We’ll praise him for all that is past, and trust him for all that’s to come.’
An open meeting on 14 June saw the launch of a Parish Development Programme for St Peter’s. The PCC believe the time is right to take stock of what we have achieved since the last Parish Awayday in March 2006 and to give the whole church community the chance to pray about and discern God’s purpose for us on the next stage of our journey together.
The theme of the meeting came from the line quoted above from a Victorian Sunday School song – ‘How good is the God we adore’. About 30 people gathered in church and one of the activities was to celebrate all the good things that we could remember about what God has done for us at St Peter’s in answer to our prayers. The list is certainly not complete, and there will be a chance to add to it during the 170th Anniversary commemorations.
The next Parish Awayday will be on Saturday 11 September, and all parishioners are welcome.
Between now and then there will be three meetings of ‘Green Growing Groups’. These small groups (up to six members) will meet in people’s houses and are open to everyone. The groups will be provided with material to help them focus on developing a relationship with God through the Bible and through Prayer, because it’s this relationship which is at the heart of our ability to listen to his will.
To find out more about the Parish Development Programme or to take part in one of the Growing Groups in July and August, contact Rev. Anne Gell, Sadie Blankley, Reg Skeet or Judith Scott, via the Parish Administrator. Please sign the list at the back of church .
‘Look backward with gratitude Look onward with hope Look upward with confidence.’
170th Anniversary
This year St Peter's church is celebrating its 170th anniversary and there was a special programme of events to mark the occasion. On Saturday 17 July there was an exhibition in the church of photographs, stories, arts and crafts. On the same day there was a Victorian Evening from 7.30pm including entertainment and a Grand Summer Draw.
Traidcraft stall
The next Traidcraft stall will be on 5 Sept after the 10am service. A chance to buy a range of Fair Trade goods, healthy snacks and chocolate. All purchases ensure that producers get a fair price for their products.
Rural Dean
We are delighted that our vicar Rev. Dr. Anne Gell has been appointed as the next Rural Dean for the Farnham Deanery.

Thank you to everyone who has been collecting house-to-house for Christian Aid. This year's collection raised over £4,300, including Gift Aid.
