Stewardship

What is Stewardship

Stewardship is about sharing the gifts that our gracious God has given to each one of us, it is also about thanking God for all that he has given us, especially the gift of faith.

God has blessed us with so much, the gift of creation, our relationships with one another, the gifts and talents that are to be found in every person. We are keepers of all that we have been blessed with and must ensure that these gifts are passed on from generation to generation.

Stewardship means looking realistically at how we each use our own time, talents and treasure in God's service, and making an appropriate response by giving what we can to support the work of the church.

We've inherited a lovely church here in Wrecclesham, in a beautiful and prominent location and the upkeep of this church and the finance to carry out the work done is provided by us, the people of St Peter. We are not financially supported by the local authorities, the government or any other outside body – it’s all down to us.

Your special talents, your time and your financial support are needed right now for the good works of our parish to continue; after all what sort of Christian community would we be without them?

Discipleship prayer
Lord we thank you for the blessings of all the gifts you have given us.
Help us to appreciate your blessings, even when we fail to recognise them.
We thank you for our community and the richness of fellowship you have put around us.
Enable us to offer all our gifts in your service.
Help us to understand your love for us, so that we may show that love to others.
In offering our gifts, may we give of ourselves in the knowledge that in such giving we are being your true disciples
.

Amen
